Who is the Mimikyute Guy?
Hi there! My name is Trenton, but most people know me as The Mimikyute Guy. I'm digital artist located in sunny Florida who's work is a celebration of all things nerdy, particularly the Pokémon Mimikyu.
What is a "Mimikyute"?
"Mimikyutes" (mih-mih-key-oots) are original characters of mine that are inspired by the Pokémon Mimikyu. The name "Mimikyute" combines the words "mimic" and "cute", spelled with a "ky", as an homage to the titular Pokémon that inspired my designs.
For those unfamiliar with Pokémon, Mimikyu is a ghost type whose true form is unsettling and causes harm to those who look directly at it. To appear more friendly and approachable, it wears a homemade costume resembling the popular franchise mascot Pikachu.
Knowing that not everyone is a fan of Pikachu, I started designing costumes that resembled other Pokémon so that these lonely little ghosts could be loved by more people.
But why stop there? With a whole universe of other fandoms outside of Pokémon, I got to work designing a whole array of costumes so that these Mimikyutes could resemble anything and everything. If you have a favorite anime, video game, or even original character, chances are there's a lonely little ghost out there waiting for me to dress them up to gain your affection!
